Before you hire, we check the contractor for you.
What needs fixing?
Please review our terms first
Before your first report we need your agreement to the current terms. Read them here: .
Free during launch: 3 reports per 30 days per account. You choose, contact, contract with and pay any contractor yourself. We do not rank contractors by quality or guarantee their work.
Your research reports
How it works and what each report checks
Tell us what needs fixing and where. We read the official California contractor records (CSLB) for licensed businesses near you and show what each record says: the license class your job needs, license status, bond, workers' compensation, and public complaints or legal actions, each with its source and date.
What each report checks
The right license for this job
We match your repair to the CSLB license class that covers it (for example C-36 plumbing or C-39 roofing) and read each contractor's current license status and expiration.
Bond and workers' compensation
We read the contractor's bond, workers' compensation policy or exemption, and LLC liability insurance. Roofing, HVAC and concrete contractors must carry workers' compensation even without employees.
Complaints, citations and legal actions
We list what CSLB publicly discloses, with dates and status. A complaint is an allegation, not a finding, and CSLB discloses matters only for limited periods.
What we do not check
Reviews, experience with repairs like yours, availability and who would actually come are not verified in this version. Each report says so for every contractor.
Scope and support
This research uses public records of the Contractors State License Board and summarizes them. Records can change after we read them, and CSLB may not have entered every recent event. For an immediate hazard such as a gas smell, sparking or flooding, leave the area and call 911 or your utility first.
Questions about your account, billing or privacy: support@acostekai.com or privacy@acostekai.com, or call (909) 619-4946. Best-effort response within two business days.
Is something in a report wrong?
Customers and contractors can ask for a correction for free. A reviewer checks the original CSLB record; payment never changes what a report shows.
